I would definitely go with a blue unit rather than a used red one, unless I happened to know that the red one was new in a car that got destroyed a week later... I think a used one at $50 is fine for a spare, but if it's getting up near $100, I'd definitely go for the blue one. Do you mind me asking where you can get the blue one? - I'd buy one at $113 for a spare before a used red one any day. I wouldn't worry about the hole, unless you're driving on dirt roads. My thought was it would only be used as an emergency spare anyway, so it would be replaced with a new red one pretty quickly... I presume some duct tape on the outside would cover the hole, and not be in danger of melting...
