I run a DELL laptop using a 120/12V converter with no issues and that is with both the head and fog lights running on top of the rear defroster now that is has been really cold and snowy. I use it for business, so it is always on during the weekdays and then it turns into a DVD player on the weekends for my kids in the back seat. If you are really concerned, and you have DRL, pull the DRL fuse so your lights will not be on during the daytime with the swith OFF, those are a HUGE power draw.
