I got my '96 CSE 2.3FPT from an ebay seller - turned out ot be ok, but still had as many problems with the car as I'd have had if it had been a private sale. I paid £2000 for a 103k mile example with pristine bodywork and a 95% interior. Since, I've replaced the heater core, front tyres and maybe £200 worth of other bits, but I still think I got a great car for the money - 10k miles down the road and she still never misses a beat.
As far as Ebay is concerned, FEEDBACK IS EVERYTHING !! Check the sellers history, interrogate previous customers (all the juice you need is on the seller's feedback page) and ytalk to the guy before wasting any time or money on looking at the car.
I was lucky, but there ARE some honest folks left yannow...
