One of the posts I read said the motor is held on by two screws. The bottom screw is hidden and very hard to get at, but after removing it the motor comes out along with the surrounding bracket.
Another post talked about powering up the motor before re-installing to get the shaft in the proper position before engaging the flap, while another one said the two flapper doors can be stuck together, which would prevent them from operating.
I never did see anything about how the motor shaft is attached to the flapper door (or its actuator) and that causes me some concern. Maybe it just slips in without any sort of fastener.
The motor isn't that expensive from SAABNET advertisers who sell the motor for less than $100, but someone said his Saab dealer wanted almost $300 for it. Of course some parts are only available from the dealer, so I use Mid America Saab in St Louis, because they give a 20% discount to us DIY'ers.
I'm hoping we'll get some more input about this problem from other Saabers as they read our posts, because I'm driving to California next week. I'm going to need that re-circulate door closed when I reach the warm weather.
Yes we got quite a bit of rain too, but not nearly as much as you. I'm happy to see it and the warmer themperatures though. It's nice to see the flowers blooming and the leaves starting to pop.
