1997 Blower motor remove/install -- tips and tricks

I am tackling the dreaded blower motor removal/install on my 1997CSE. Ugh. Quasi's (and others) descriptions are very helpful, but there are some differences in the '97/98.
First, only part of the false bulkhead comes out, the 2/3 of it toward the passenger (right) side. There is an 8mm hex screw on the right end, and another at the left (about 1/3 the way from the left end). No need to remove the torx screw hiding behind the brake reservoir on the far left. Also, unscrew (2 torx screws, right on top) the cruise control (I think) module near the right end of the false bulkhead and let it hang there. The wire harness for the electronic ignition(?) passes thru a big elbow-shaped sleeve in the middle of the false bulkhead; it seems to be hard-wired to the Trionix unit in the aquarium, and I'll be damned if I can find a way to disconnect it. No need to disconnect it tho, as the false bulkhead falls away far enuf to access everything behind it.
HELP! Here is where I got stuck. The AC evap housing is held down by 2 torx screws, one in the middle at the bottom, and one near the top at the right (passenger) side. With them out, the evap housing is free. However, it does NOT want to get sufficiently out of the way but hangs up on the lip in front of the windshield. In fact, it doesn't look like it can be moved sufficiently without removing the AC hoses and connectors, requiring discharge of the AC fluid. Am I wrong about this?
Any further tips on this project are appreciated.
Saab on!
