I just did this job. The evap. housing just needs to move an inch or so to the left to allow removal. It is critical to remove the two coolant lines to the heater core to get it out. I tried without removing them first and it didn't work. The hard part is reaching in and releasing the two tabs on the bottom of the housing (each side) then the whole thing hinges up towards you from the bottom. I had some scratched knuckles after this one but could do it again in half the time. It strains the back as well - a lot of awkward positions for the lower back. I was moving from left side to middle to right side. A helper is a good thing to have for this one - along with patience. Go easy on that evaporator housing- it just needs to move over an inch!!
