it isn't a horribly difficult job, but it is easier with an extra set of hands. All of the parts under the cowl can be removed to gain access to the core. The difficulty is that some of the connectors and fasteners aren't easy to get in tight quarters.
I did this in my 91 9000 in my driveway witht he help of a friend in about 3 hours from start to finish. I bought the core from a local import parts store for about 40% of the dealer price.
If I am not mistaken Quasi has a good write up on the job if you DIY. YOu will get a sense of frustration, followed by sense of accomplishment.
Good Luck
David
