Hey Jim,
As I was saying before, the owner doesn't know a lot about cars. So when the temp gauge started acting up (rising) just after they had some work done by the dealer, he called the dealer from his cell phone (a dealer they know well... and have used for a lot of work). The dealer said "just watch the gauge, and keep driving it, bring it in this week... should be fine as we just worked on it". Well, the temp gauge kept going up, so he called again and got "it must be something faulty. Bring it in tomorrow." Fast forward about 10 minutes and there he sat on the side of the road with a seized up engine! The dealer footed the bill, and when they returned it, there was a lot of oil from the head gasket. Back to the dealer, and the heads were warped (they hadn't checked/fixed that on the rebuild) and had to be milled back to flat. So... basically the dealer picked up the bill for a stupid mistake of a (probably newbie) mechanic thinking that it couldn't possibly be what the temp guage was indicating... that cost them a few bucks...
Thanks for all the comments, guys.
