I've always had it in for this stuff, but a friend of mine has recently confirmed my suspicions about it by telling the story of his stopped up thermostat, discovered by his Saab techs, who showed him a severely blocked and fouled thermostat and severely beat him for having poured Bar's Leaks in his car. In fact when he brought the car in they were able to guess ahead of time that BL was in the system. According to these techs, they've seen this many times, and BL is a definite no-no.
Even in the best-case scenario, I would NEVER advocate this stuff as a routine additive. It's strictly for last-ditch or temporary relief. Those of you who proclaim to have had no problems, this story might change your tune. A healthy system won't need this stuff.
At any rate, BL isn't going to cure oil in the coolant -- it might help coolant stay out of the oil, but it doesn't sound like that's the problem here.
Still need to know how MUCH oil is in your coolant? If it's just an oily sheen, I wouldn't worry too much, as this is probably not harmful.
