you can do a float test on the battery if you have the $2.00 "turkey baster" from any car parts place.
you could check the voltage output of your alternator with a simple volt meter, or have your alternator checked at the same parts place above for free...autozone, advanced auto parts, napa...many do a free check.
check all connections at the battery, alternator and ground strap...as well as the wires that run to the starter way way under the engine. these have been the culprit almost every time on my "older" cars. battery faliure is usually only after the limit of the battery has been exceeded (e.g. 5 year battery) or poor maintenance of the items in this paragraph not allow a good charge.
these are general ideas. there are many execelent electronic "gurus" (LU?) who can help with specifics...
