Yes, the MB are better than what I have to replace them with. The MB's both developed a very raspy sounding tweeter since I've last heard them. (this is my father's car so I don't know how they blew out and he's clueless).
My theory is this: the car has an Eclipse touch-screen head unit and the fader control is very easy to access accidentally, say when changing the volume. I think he faded the sound forward by accident and then turned it way up to hear.
OR, he simply blew the speakers when he switched from radio to iPod or radio to CD. You see, his antenna mast doesn't exist so he turns the radio way up to barely hear NPR.
Honestly he sort of neglects the car, I'm trying to fix it up a little. The audio problem is actually the simplest problem he has. The car has TCS issues, needs motor mounts, and oil is leaking from around the exhaust manifold.
I guess replacing the speakers is like putting lipstick on a pig...
