Urby, I'm not sure what year your car is, but somewhere along the way, SAAB added an interior release to the 9000 hatch, it is inside the tool door on the passenger side. I recently stripped an '88 for parts, and when I went to open the hatch, it was stuck. Not too big a deal I figured, just get into the trunk and pull the emergency release... but! one back door was stuck, so I could only fold down the 1/3 side of the seatback... then, when I crawled into the trunk under the sagging parcel tray, I discovered SAAB hadn't included in interior release on the '88 hatch... I eventually released the hatch by removing the trim on the inside and dismantling the lock from the inside. Not that difficult, but big PITA.
