hello there...
The orange section of the plastic on the front sides serves two purposes:
1. as the signal for your bilnker
2. as your parking lights AKA running lights
the clear section of the plastic on the front serves only ONE purpose:
1. to illuminate the ground in the direction you are turning.
it's called a cornering light, and it only comes on when you have your blinker on... and only on the side your blinker is turned on.
SO...
if you claim that one side of the blinkers is still working, i suggest... turning on the car, turning the headlights all of the way on, and hitting the blinker for the side that still works...
you should notice that the organge light is blinking, and the clear light is a stead on.
then turn the blinker off...
you sould notice that the orange light is STILL on, yet not blinking and a little dimmer, and the clear light is OFF.
That is because the bulb in the orange section has TWO filaments in it, which means it receives TWO signals from TWO different circuits, which means TWO different wires run to the same bulb, not counting ground...
you still with me?
so, my guess is, that if you replaced the orange bulb with a bulb from the REAR, it's not of the right type, and the contacts on the bottom of the bulb don't match up to the wire contacts.
The best way to test the wires, is to switch the bulbs from the on-working side with the bulbs from the working side. that way you know they are the same type.
however, my guess is that it won't work anyways... and the wires or circuitry controlling that side of the cars lights is KAPUT and you won't even know why... it's one of those mysteries...
however there is still hope!
here is what I would do if i were you...
somehow tap into the rear running light harness, and run it to the front lights with a wire! pretty ghetto, but highly effective, and pretty permanent if you run the wire right.
After reading your post again, i'm pretty certain you are using the WRONG bulb however in the orange section.
you need CLEAR bulbs that have TWO filaments in them, and TWO round metal contacts on the bottom...
ANY OTHER BULB WILL NOT WORK.
let us know if this is your problem
