Former Vermonter here, closest I lived to Wolcott was Walden so that's not too far ;-)
I'm not sure where you get your car fixed, but you shouldn't pay too many $1000 bills if you go to the right place. I live in Boston and I still drive up to European Autoworks in Coventry whenever I need major stuff done on my '93 Aero.
It's a bit of a hike but they're really good and really cheap. I will admit to a couple $1000 bills, but it was like $800 parts, $200 labor.
Anyway, I think you should hold out for the car you want, which the '94 Aero just may be. The price is a bit high in my opinion, but it all depends on condition and maintenance records.
There's tons of Saabs in Vermont and Maine (as you know). If you're patient, the right one will come along. Good Luck -AMG
