Just use a good synthetic, like M1, and change it every 9k miles. That way, you're spending less time changing the oil (not the most exciting thing to do on a nice day) and using less filters, too.
I don't think there's any objective test that says synthetic oil is better than dino juice and as long as oil maintains its' viscosity and lubricating ability, that's all that is important to your engine. I see the whole synthetic/dino debate as really being an issue between what's less work. And the synthetic is definitely less work. I use synthetics in all my vehicles: '98 CSE, '05 Silverado, & '86 John Deere. By the way, the John Deere (Onan) went 600 hrs on dino, before I bought it, and now uses synthetic with no leaks from any seals. I'm not sure what was in the CSE before I bought it, but it doesn't have any leaks, either.
