I think bleeding is a good first step to be sure the pump has a prime. As to swapping accumulators my understanding from what I've read on the board is that the nitrogen is on the other side of a diaphragm in "the bomb" and that pumping the brakes multiple times dissipates the reserve pressure that the accumulator provides to the system. That said, I've only worked on this system once and don't have access to the service manual, so I don't know the recommended procedure. Eeuroparts has a listing on the abs manual which I was going to order if I needed to get deeper into the system.
