I guess us guys should always listen to our wives is the "moral to the story", huh? She loves this car so much I thought maybe that was weighing into her decision or maybe enough to influence mine. It does make sense looking at the #'s on paper, to fix the car for a modest $700[ish] "investment". I never considered how much a newer vehicles value influences related expenses such as required collision insurance, etc... We pay a usage tax or property tax on vehicles and the more it's valued at of course the more you pay. For instance we pay about $30 per year on our 1994 Saab which is based on book value so with high miles it's very minimal. I checked and on our 2000 Volvo it's $327 per year ~ ouch! Insurance on the Volvo [full coverage including collision]is $451 and the Saab is only $112.00! Not to mention taxes on a $15,000 replacement! Financing doesn't really effect our bottom line as we buy what we can afford which we have saved up to pay cash. It seems if I repair the Saab and get another years use, while saving up, these repairs will pay for themself. We really don't need a 3rd vehicle, we live in the south where there's no snow. I no longer travel so much as I once did and my wife no longer travels for work [majority of the miles], nor works outside the home now since we had children. I guess we'll visit the site sponsor[s] mentioned and bypass the dealer prices hence saving even more $. This will make my wife happy and myself as well I guess as we won't have to compromise by buying something for less than we currently have saved up nor have to borrow $ to get what we want. I guess we'll get another year out of it easily and this will be a win~win situation in the long run. By the time we buy something newer within a year we'll have time to discuss further what her beloved Saabs fate will be afterwards. I have this feeling it will remain with us forever if she has her way. Not to be premature but what Saab in the $15,000 or less range would you guys recommend. Please keep in mind this will be up to a year from now. It will need to be a 4 door hatch minimum, preferably non turbo and she might want an automatic by then but 5 speed is preferred. I can't thank you enough! Gar
