Don't do it. Take it to a dealership or independent mechanic who can diagnose the problem. The mechanic is responsible for determining what is wrong- not to suggest repairs that "might" solve the problem. So far they have just been lightening your wallet without figuring out what's wrong.
The fuel pump is immersed in gasoline, so it almost surely is not the problem you are experiencing when the motor heats up. It sounds more likely that a sensor is malfunctioning when hot.
