ok, i will be as thorough as possible...
about a month or more ago (1500 miles maybe) i changed the oil on my 93 9000 CSE auto. a couple weeks ago i checked the level and it was low 1/2 quart, which i happened to have, so added to full, i figured maybe i didn't fully top off when i changed fluid after i ran it.
i checked today and i'm back down 1/2 quart (maybe 400 miles of driving or so).
engine does not smoke.
now, i also noticed the driver's side of the valve cover is wet where it meets the engine, i will check to see if the bolts need tightening, otherwise, i'm assuming a valve cover gasket is in order?
but here's what concerns me...
the exhaust bolts are wet (I am assuming from valve cover), but BEHIND the exhaust manifold on the passenger side of the front of the red part of the engine around what looks like a porthole, it is freshly wet.
i've been smelling the oil burning on the exhaust since my di burned up, but hoped it was just a residual smell from whatever vaporous substance was left on my engine.
is there something serious to be concerned about with the oil on the lower passenger side red part of engine behind exhuast manifold where that round little porthole is??
silver part of engine may be wet as well, but hard to tell, easily noticeable on the red part (sorry i don't know terms).
