Check your maintainence schedule. The brake fluid needs to be changed every two years. It picks up moisture from the atmosphere, and water can collect at the caliper and cause rust. Or in extreme cases boil and produce steam which in not nearly as compressable as Dot 4....
This is a worthwhile change even if you have to pay $50-75 for a mechanic to do the job. I bought a Motive bleeder for $45 from one of the site sponsors along with $10 worth of Super Blue to do the job. Actually $20 for both 9Ks.
