I suspect its the right hand side inner CV, or what's called the "tripod". If the boot is torn, the grease escapes, and eventually the tripod and drive cup mangle one another and create some "free play" at the union. This would make a noise that is not related to turning, but could be responsive to coasting (makes noise) or excellerating (gets quiet) since under load the tripod is held forced against drive cup. At highway speeds you will get vibration. You can test this theory by grabbing onto the axle near the transmission and try to jiggle it. Best to do this with the suspension under load so the axle geometry is nominal. Jack up the car, support it on blocks, then use the jack to compress the right hand strut by lifting the lower control arm under neath the ball joint. Compare the right hand axle free play to that of the left side. The difference should be noticable.

I had this occur on an old 88 900S. I had to replace the tripod and cup. There was no grease left when I got to it. Same principle on the 9000T. Since you are already hearing the noise, the parts are already shot. So there's no harm in driving as is for a while (if I'm correct on this). Problem will get worse but should not cause you to get stuck far from home on a cold snowy night.
