I appreciate your help in my last post about a month ago. I was pretty intimidated by this system at first, not knowing the limits of it and how far I was going to have to dig. I think it was a good idea to lubricate all of the locks after 10 years anyway, though I suspect that most problems would be found in the front doors or in the central locking module.
Something I forgot to mention in the first post: Those microswitches are $60 for the drivers side and $80 for the passenger's side from Saab. I think they are exactly the same though. They may be mirror images of one another and not completely interchangeable, but I did not even think to check. It seems strange that one would be $20 more than the other when they are exactly the same thing, to my cursory glance at least. Junkyards usually have the handles for around $25-$35 a pop, and most will include the microswitches. The one I spoke to did not even know that this was a pretty important separate part than the handle, and the parts guy I regularly use at Saab (as a last resort) never in his 10 years there had to fill an order for one. Perhaps they are sturdier than I initially thought? Even so, they can break and I have a broken one in that spare handle.
Thanks again!
Ian
