Fixed Exhaust: Now I am mad, should I be?

The BB recommended Mieneke and sure enough they were willing to cut out the damaged resonator/middle muffler and replace it with a pipe. I reviewed the game plan;
1) Will will they cut? He showed me.
2) Is the existing pipe strong enough to hold? Yes
3) How will he attach the pipe? Weld it into place.
4) Will the weld go 360 degrees around as I don't want a leak? Yes
5) What about the hangars? He'll weld on hangars.
Sounded good. He charged me for 2.5 hours and took 20 minutes to do the job. I told him I wanted to see the finished product and he brought me back in. The welds looked really good, the hangars were done nicely and they did not seem to put stress onthe other hangars.
The issue: He welded in a smaller diameter pipe. The stock is about a 2 and 3/8's pipe and he used a 2 inch pipe. I question why he used the smaller diameter pipe and he said that is all he had on hand. I pushed back and shred that I am concerned with the pressure the smaller pipe will cause and the effect it will have on the engine. He stated it would not be a problem.
Should I take it back?
