Let's start with the fuel pump. Posted by Ari [Email] (#2847) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ari) on Wed, 9 Feb 2005 05:57:41 In Reply to: starts fine but it won't run, rc3saabs, Wed, 9 Feb 2005 04:03:04 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
You might want to review the long series of posts we had below with Vince V on a car that won't run long. First, jumper fuse 14 to fuse 22. There is usually a small opening in the fuse that allows you to test the voltage on it. Or, just pull fuses 14 and 22, and put a jumper from the hot side of 14 to the load side of 22. This will cause the fuel pump to come on and stay on, no matter where the key is.
Try starting the car, and see if it keeps running. This would rule out a problem where the fuel pump cuts out, or can't provide enough flow.
I assume you've got a DI-equipped car - no distributor. I know it doesn't have TCS, as they didn't have it in '90. It might be a bad crank position sensor (behind the main pulley) or the DI. But start with fuel.
