I have been trying to check the operating range, so to speak of the motor and not dwell on the idle. It idles----ok great, 1 thing less to adjust. But it is EyE Burning Rich Anywhere the throttle is at. If it was only at idle, then i could care less. But it is Any where i hold the throttle open, it seems. I got the throttle wide open today, and black smoke started to come out the back as the motor tried to gain rpm above 2400 but keep falling back to 2100 then back up, like it was hitting a limiter. If i let off the accelerator a tiny amount the rpms would go on up to 4k or so if i let it.
I have had the car on a road twice and it kept dying when i had it in gear and started to move the car. I couldnt get any rpm out of it, without it stumbling bad first. Its an auto. So i put it down in 1st gear and got it up to 20 mph. but not much response. Just sluggish. But that was once before i did any inj. cleaning, and after about 2 days into it. I have not driven it lately except to move the car around, and that wasnt much better yet.
The car gets started everyday trying to get it cleaned, but with no load on the motor mainly running the rpm up and down seeing if it transitions from idle better. It idles smooth, with some flucuation but it doesnt miss out. It does take about 4-5 revolutions to start, but that is expected with its condition i would assume.
I hooked up the DVM to the o2 wire and the O2 body for ground. Checked the voltage and adjusted the amm up several turns and down to 120 and the reading kept slowly climbing. I turned it about 1/2 turn at a time. I dont know how long to wait for the computer to see it? But i waited about 15 sec. then turned again.
Iam going to run all the gas out of it before adding more. Its almost at reserve now.
I cant afford to keep replacing parts that may fix it, so i have thrown out different things to ponder, if they are likely the problem, and go from there. And i have to do the work myself. Thank you for the help.
