I found out the hard way that there is a relation between the EDU (the board computer) and the ACC, in that they both switch off if the voltage gets out of the 9-16V range. It is the only two visible instruments that display this behaviour simultaneously.
In my case both the ACC and the EDU would switch off about 1 minute after starting, but would come back on after a couple of minutes. But sometimes both would switch off randomly, at higher speed.
Now as said this will happen if voltage is below 9v, or above 16v. Above 16v can only happen when the voltage regulator on the alternator is shot. Under 9v can be a bad alternator or a bad VR. But then you would have drained the battery as well and you would have noticed.
In my case the VR was bad, and voltage would occasionally exceed 16v, and the self-protection of the ACC and EDU computers would kick in. When it broke down completely, voltage became a direct function of engine RPMs. But before that I had already blown some headlight bulbs as well.
If you switch the EDU to display the charging voltage, you should typically see a value between 13 and 14 volts. If you see large fluctuations beyond that range, I would seriously suspect the VR. Lower than about 12.5v is not good.
I'm sorry if I sould alarming, but I would not know something else that explains the simultaneous behavior of ACC and EDU you describe.
Good luck,
Jan Geert
