Okayyy...
Red DI's are for T5 cars. Black DI's are for T7 cars. Blue DI's are rebuilt ones (I dunno if they are T5 or T7)
You can use a black T7 DI in our T5 cars, but you're not supposed to be able to use a red T5 DI in T7 cars. However, some on the 9-5 and 9-3BBs do in fact use red T5 DIs in their T7 cars with no issues.
IMO, its better to stick with T5 (red) DI's in T5 cars because the black DI's seem to fail sooner and with less warning. Red DI's are still readily available at dealers, Eeuroparts, other site sponsors and even ebay. I don't know of any Saab bulletins on the issues, but the stuff I know has been proven.
