You and I are both in the fine state of Connecticut, and the car is as well.
The beast in question is a '97 CSE. I assume it's a US model. My only real chance to get up there to look at the car was yesterday, and the alarm possibilities only occurred to me on my way home, naturally. Perhaps it was the central locking fuse causing problems; I don't recall whether the dome light came on or not.
I put my ISAT on the car and it returned no codes (well, a jumble of ABS codes that probably were the result of the battery discharging -- I had my jumper cables on the car at the time). Cleared everything and tried again with no success.
Again, everything seems to be happening that should be happening to get the car going, except for the starter engaging. Most odd. And the CEL stays on even after clearing the codes multiple times. No ISAT codes for the engine at all.
So: I wish I could get up there and pull the alarm fuse with power at the battery post to put the thing into transport mode, and see if that gets her going. But the persistent and non-clearing CEL has me stumped and scared. Plus I'd hate to get it started only to find that the transmission, A/C, and just about everything else are toast.
I wonder if we'll be seeing other cars like this as this model year gets older?
