Or your arms and face and teeth. Lets not forget that an airbag is an explosive. Bombs are also explosives. Would you lean in towards a bomb that was going to explode?
Ans trust me, you're not going to have time to assume any position in the event of a head-on. Been there, done that..several times. If anything, you'll instinctively pull back against your seat and close your eyes, not lean forward.
The last time I kissed an airbag (in my friend's mother's Chrysler T and C), I was sitting with the seat back as far as it would go, and my face still hurt for a week with some slight brusing. And that was just from the airbag itself...I can't imagine how it would feel to get hit first by the platic cover, then milliseconds later the airbag.
If I were you, I'd re-train myself...fast! ;)
