Folksam rates car safety on fatalities. See the link below for more information, click on "How safe is your car?". They suggest that the 9000 is safer that the c900, but for context, both models are significantly safer than newer (popular) models like the VW Golf/Jetta - for more on this check out the "Saabs Save lives" section of this website.
At 100K plus miles reliability depends entirely on the sort of maintenance that's been performed. Off the cuff I'd be more worried about a failing transmission in the 900 ($1000 for a rebuild + labor) compared to a new TCS throttle body in the 9000 (maybe $300 in parts, 15 minutes labor)
