It may well be the original engine. I recently bought a 1993 9000CD with 302000 miles showing on the odomoter. I first saw the car as the head gasket was being replaced. Under the valve cover, the engine looked like yours. Apparently throughout this car's life, it was serviced by dealer or indy mechanics. (I bought it from the local SAAB indy shop.) Whenever anything broke or needed attention it was fixed.....pampered as Anders puts it. For example, the transmission has been replaced. This car is close to perfect. It runs and drives as new.
