mending breaking flexpipe

Hey guys, my flexpipe is starting to separate. Its not rusting at all- just pulling apart between two of the rings. I tried sealing it with some epoxy, which worked for a couple days before the epoxy burned off. I have some steel wool- could I use a couple hose clamps to patch the section? I also have a welder which I could use if all my other attempts fail, but it looks like a pain to remove from the car (with the O2 sensor installed etc). I just spent a bunch of $$ on some other repairs so Id rather hold off on buying a new pipe.
