This just started happening. When cruising at highway speeds the throttle will all of a sudden lift, yet I have not moved my foot. I can push the throttle down more and it responds but even feels stiff through the pedal. If I lift of the pedal and reapply it seems to reset and the pedal feels normal and everything reacts fine. But it is getting worse and worse. It does not happen at light throttle loads (ie. cruising at 30mph). Being I can feel a difference in the pedal I am thinking it is the pedal position sensor. It feels like the potentiometer is dirty when it happens, just like when the potentiometer is wearing out on a stereo or something. I just want to know for sure before I drop $275 on a new one. Do you think it could be cleaned? Is there anything else that I would need to do to it besides just plug a new one in?
Car info;
1995 9000 Aero 5spd w/TCS and only 66,000
Any help is greatly appreciated
Happy Saabing
