82-degree C thermostat vs. 89-degree standard unit Posted by Bill Homer [Email] (#3427) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bill Homer) on Wed, 1 Jun 2005 09:44:02 In Reply to: looking for a cooler thermostat, Buz, Wed, 1 Jun 2005 09:26:42 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
SAAB has an 82-degree thermostat which you can obtain from the dealer. Another good choice for an 82-degree thermostat is Whaler and another brand that I can't remember, available from site sponsors and perhaps other sources, but many people here are insistant on using only the genuine SAAB product as a failure can be disasterous. You may also wish to investigate a cooler thermoswitch that starts the fans at a lower temperature, refer to the saabnet Parts classifieds. I can't think of a better place than Phoenix to be running a cooler thermostat, I run one in Chicago!
No idea why you would want to reduce the boost, unless you are overboosting and running into fuel cutoff. Too much fun, or what? An easy way is to unplug the BPC Solenoid which will cap the boost at base boost level (mid-yellow on the gauge) unless the solenoid is broken.
