Not that much to remove and whatever had to be removed was easy. However, JIMMY'ING THE BLOWER HOUSING OUT IS AN ENORMOUS PITA !!!!!!! There is absolutely no room for such a weird-shaped thing to pull out. You'd think Saab would have made it easy for their tech's to replace the heater core since they are of such poor quality. I was actually surprised only one expletive escaped from my mouth (also due to the constant interruptions of my 5- and 3- yr old sons).
I knew mine had a slight leak, but I let it go too long (avoiding this inevitable task) and now the pass. side rug under the floor mat is saturated in blue antifreeze. The build-up of leaking fluid made its way into the cabin and damaged the rug in that area. The drainage tubes were not blocked, but somehow the fluid decided to run into the pass. footwell.
Now, I face the ugly situation of putting the blower assembly back in. Any tips? It was a bear getting it out, and I can only assume it will be even worse going in.
Also, anything else to do while I'm in there? The blower motor was replaced 30K miles ago (under warranty), so that doesn't need replacement. Anything to lube up? I'm also going to replace the heater hoses (long and short ones).
