I'm not losing *any* oil, as far as the dipstick is concerned, and hadn't even noticed a residue under the car before the shop alerted me to a leak. Now I have to verify it. I just verified by telephone it was a front seal leak.
I saw your comment elsewhere about properly locating the seal, and thought I did so. In fact it wouldn't go in very far before it was wedged tight, while the one I removed had been in pretty deep. I remember I put the closed end facing out, too.
You had also said to do the oil pump o-ring, but I skipped it since there had been no leak previously and I was in there to do a pulley change. How do I tell the difference between a seal leak and one coming from a defective o-ring?
