Rolling the car with driveline out

Hmm - thats interesting.
To clarify, the engine/transmission and axles were out of the car.
I'm thinking about this, but I don't see how the axles support the wheel bearings. I know the axle nut is tightened very well against the inner race. *But*, the inner joint of the axle sort of just sits in the inner cup - with the boot being the only thing that adds any sort of lateral resistance to removal (The only reason the axle doesnt just fall out of the inner driver is that the control arm doesnt allow the distance to get large enough). I can't imagine that rolling the car with the axles would provide any higher stresses on the bearing than, say, cornering at 0.8+ G.
Maybe I'm missing something. And while this doesnt help me figure out if I can use a newer wheel bearing, it would still be interesting to research, since the car is in a parking spot and would have to be rolled back into the garage when the engine is ready to go back in :).
