Anders,
Your point is well put. The only thing that might be arguable is whether fuel from the tank can propogate forward into the return line.
First, this is also roll-over protection and while I have not performed an analysis I can state the energy in a 'slosh' (treated as a pulse dynamically) is greater than a continuous return fuel flow. So spirited or aggressive driving could lead to fuel being thrown at the return fitting (I am not saying this would cause fuel to enter the return line fitting-only be directed toward the fitting.). Additionally, I would expect the return fuel to be aerated and this would decrease the return fuel pressure.
Thanks,
Rick
