Yes, that is a good analysis but still don't really solidify the need for the valve.
As far as rollover protection, God forbid that fuel would enter into the fuel return line in a roll over and make it all the way up to the fuel pressure regulator????
Actually, now it make some sense if the fuel return line have been severed at some point in the crash, the valve would stop fuel from pouring out that open line.
They do have roll over valves in the fuel vapor lines.
