Granted, this is a place where folks usually post to ask for help with
problems - so we mostly hear the bad with a sprinkling of good mixed
in - and frequently in contentious tones from the very exception to
anything that seems to 'usually' be true !!!
Slight recap with additions:
Speaking as the owner of various 9KTs exclusively for quite a few years
now; a few 900s tossed in for good measure; and a goodly batch of 99s
for quite a few years (including a turbo - a very cool car !), I say
that in my own experience what happened was true for me with the '92
and '93 cars I had with TCS - and when they were difficult, any mech.
I spoke with as well as owners of other cars in these years cited
similar, or even duplicate experiences (perhaps it's Vermont TCS cars ?).
Point:
A car that has an electronic throttle body that costs about $1000 for
the part only is likely to need that part sometime - and since ONLY
TCS cars have it, avoiding TCS means total and succesful avoidance of
that expense completely and forever - right ?
Non-TCS cars do not have an expensive throttle body, OR the limited
run, oddball ECUs that TCS cars had (I learned about these when I had
one die off and had to sacrifice the car because I had been ill and
lacked funds to repair my beloved '93 Aero...).
In closing I say to you, dear fellow Saaber - I envy you in every
sense of the word - I would adore to have your car and your experience
of your car - and I suspect there are many others who share this
sentiment !!!
Best Wishes,
mark
