Hi Alex,
Need more info. Is it 2.0l or 2.3l? If it is a 2.0l and has 2 belt system, then maybe the serp belt needs to be tighened more (if not automatic adjuster). My guess is that when the serp belt is a little loose, the water pump would slip more, cause to abnormal flow of coolant in the system. This may be the reason for your high temp readings. For a 2.3l, you may check first the serp belt as it could cause slippage on the water pump pulley, water would not flow every time. Heat will not be desipated and results in a heated engine. Just my guess...
