I'd first check if the fuel pump is aligned correctly. It is easy enough to do. Flip the rear seats down. Remove three torx screws behind the rear seats to remove the sheet metal trim. Remove two torx screws to remove the plywood trunk cover. Loosen and remove two locks using a torx bit to remove the fuel pump cover. Remove the fuel pump dust cover to expose the fuel pump. There should be a mark on the fuel pump. The mark shoul line up with another on the car body at the same orientation.
I suspect the fuel pump may not have been installed with the correct orientation, resulting in the float rubbing on the tank to indicate incorrect fuel level.
