my first saab was an 86 900S, for $2800 in '96. Well-maintained, good car. Within the first year, I needed all new calipers, pads, rotors, alternator, slave cylinder, clutch master cyl, and clutch (had 1/3 life left, but might as well). That was an expensive year because I was not DIYing.
second saab 90 9000S in 2001, 193K, now 210K, first 17K I've done all the brakes ($600 total), a wheel bearing, an exhaust system ($200), and a used tire. Now it needs a slave cylinder, likely, after I let it sit for a couple years with hardly any use.
third saab 92 9000S 133K first 10K miles trouble free, then odds and ends, heater core, crank seal, pulley, then about 20K later, belt, alternator, then another 5-10K later, slave cylinder, and finally slave cylinder. very cheap car to maintain, I've spent $4000 total in 4 years with that car, now being parted out due to failed trans at 173K
fourth saab, 93 9000S 147K, well-maintained, $2800, I've spent a few thousand in the first year (head gasket, water pump, DI cassette, blower motor, rear brakes complete, front pads and rotors, tires (not necessary, but good), radiator, thermostat, therm switch

good luck
