I did a thread a while ago asking people to share how much their beloved 9Ks were costing them in parts alone (labor not included). Mine came out to about $45 a month, and it was on the very low end of the scale. There were some people that were putting $100+ into their 9Ks every month. Of course these were people that were modifying their cars. My $45 a month was just to keep it moving in a forward motion with everything working. Although $45 a month in parts may seem fairly cheap, it's the frustration of having to fix items on a constant basis.
I love the 9K, but they are not trouble-free by any stretch of the word. Expect heater core issues, ignition module replacements, belt tensioner pulleys, just to name a few items. If you are looking for dependability, go for a Honda or Toyota. If you are looking for a car that few people own, can haul a refrigerator in the back, and smoke the doors off a lot of other cars, then the 9K is for you.
