> Whether the thermostat is open or closed coolant always flow through the heater core.
According to the Townsend description of the thermostat, in the third stage the thermostat blocks flow to the heater core:
http://townsendimports.com/Web/cooling_system_folder/thermostatreplacement.htm
I wish there were a complete description or diagram somewhere of all the coolant pathways and directions of flow. I understand radiator-top-hose to radiator; radiator-bottom-hose to water pump inlet; expansion tank to water pump inlet.
But from water pump outlet, I'm not sure where it goes next; where the throttle body and hose-within-a-hose leading to air intake comes in; where the thermostat comes in; where the heater core comes in, why there are four hoses connected to the heater hose; etc.
