This is a great board, and I do appreciate all the input. I have test driven several 9k's already -- including a 97 Aero. There's no comparisons with the RWD Volvo's for sure. I love how the car drives and looks. But after reading this board for several weeks, I found many 9k's seem to have these problems before 150k miles: heater core, head gasket, timing chain. This seems to be pretty big repairs with the mileage. For a RWD Volvo, or an Acura, barely anything will break by 150K. The only unscheduled repair for my 1990 Acura Legend before 160k, was alternator ($10 brushes), and an O2 sensor ($40); and the only unscheduled repair for my 1994 Volvo 940 at 110k was the radiator ($120). Based on my readings from brickboard and acura-legend.com, it is fairly common for these cars to hit 200k with regular maintainence.
I am trying to persuade myself to buy a 9000 before summer (so I have the summer to work out its problem and do 'zero mileage maintaience). But timing chain and head gasket sounds to be pretty expensive things to take care of, and some say the transmission can be 'sketchy'...maybe that is the price one has to pay for driving a nice and quick car?
