without having seen one, i would imagine that you are right. tie the light and + together (not sure the number codes) and - to ground, or use the case. make a test wire with a teeny fuse in it (like 1 amp or so) and givee it a shot.
i would ignore the 6 pins on the bottom. no doubt it's tied into the EDU somehow, but clock should work just fine with nothing hooked up to them.
are there symbols next to the terminals on the back? i'll take a look at the couple i have in the garage (from old VW and Volvos) and see what's there on the one I did years ago.
