Thoughts on the BPC valve...

It's been three weeks since I replaced the BPC valve on my '96 CSE. The car contnues to run much better than it did on the old one, even before it started giving me base boost.
With the old one I could get the boost gauge into the red on a good day, but generally just below the bottom of the red. With the new one I can get into red almost anytime I want. This is after 3 weeks and 600 miles of local driving around with few opportunities to really get on it.
More obvious, though, is that the power comes in like it did when I got the car--that great punch you start getting around 2,000 to 2,500 rpm or so. The old BPC just didn't have that--it was OK, but much more controlled. The car still went fine, but it lacked the punch. Now it's back!
Makes one wonder, given the nature of BPC valves, just how much variability there is in these things.
