I did speak to Johnny at Maptun about this a couple of years ago - his experience as I understood it was that when used in the 9000, the NGK Platinum plugs tended to foul and were then harder to clear. They preferred the standard plugs for just about all 9000s (and they do get alarming power outputs from some of them). Maybe this experience has changed with time, plus we didn't talk about Iridiums.
When doing some dyno runs on my old CSE with NGK Platinums in heat range "7", I got a tiny fraction less power than with the standard plugs (not significant, but certainly not a huge gain or anything). That sounds right - presumably the idea of the Platinums or Iridiums is longer life, without adjustment.
Finally, I've read that if using Platinums on the 9000 you should go for the "6" heat range not "7" as with the standard plug. Once again, don't know if that applies to Iridium plugs.
