This is what caused a similar clunk on my car. I assume that the mounts were replaced prior to my ownership of the car, they were in good shape at 120,000 miles. I removed the top bolts (which were obviously loose when unbolting, but not on visual inspection), reinstalled with some blue Loctite - no more clunking for the past two years.
